Note: The “Three peaceful acts” (三和, san he ) refers to “peaceful coexistence, peaceful competition, and peaceful transition”. Another interpretation is “offering peace to imperialism, to modern revisionism, and to reactionary factions of foreign countries”. “One reduction” (一少, yishao) refers to “reducing support and assistance to the liberation struggle of other peoples”. This expression refers to Mao Zedong’s criticism to Wang Jiaxiang, Director of Central Liaison Department, on 9 February 1964 (Li, 1995: 366)
